Biography

Dario Lombardi, born in Foggia in 1939, attended art school in Bari while at the same time working alongside talented Apulian artists. In 1961 he successfully turned his attention to ceramics and terracotta, producing notable works for both private and public sectors. This was to be a very brief interlude however, soon abandoned in favour of the study and rasearch of colours and pictorial and graphic forms of expression.
His restless and rebellious temperament is reflected in his works, in which each form is expressed through a vast variety of colours, sometimes soft and harmonious and other times bright and "dynamic".
His subjects are from his land and people: Apulian landscapes and Southern characters are depicted with clear, precise strokes, images of a reality he has felt and lived. Lombardi in fact wants to capture and communicate the essential being and soul of a people.
The artists already has numerous "exhibitions" to his credit, in Italy and abroad and his works feature in renowned collections, both public and private.
The artist's work is always finished off with definite strokes, which means that we are dealing with a mature approach, not one preoccupied with aesthetics, or seeking to shock its audience.
